Kenneth Dykstra

March 11, 1940 — July 9, 2020

Our beloved Kenneth Jay Dykstra went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2020. He will be so sadly missed. Ken was born March 11, 1940 in Grand Rapids Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie Dykstra; daughter, Laura Dykstra; step sons, Rob (Wendy) Ruger, Shawn (Melissa) Ruger, Troy (Katie) Ruger, Chad (Angie) Ruger, and 19 magnificent grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Dykstra and a brother, James Dykstra. Ken proudly served in the U.S Army for two years before becoming a national account executive for American Greetings, where he worked for 45 years. During this time, he made many wonderful lifelong friends. Ken used his gifts and talents to serve the Lord by traveling and singing with the Heralders, a southern gospel quartet for 50 years. He also formed the Heritage Quartet singing with his wife Bonnie and Rich and Maggie Hogan for 18 years. Ken made so many friends and touched countless lives singing gospel music. Ken now sings with the Heavenly choir - too glorious to describe. Ken was known for his wonderful smile and his kind, loving, gentle personality. Though we will all miss him tremendously, we know he is reunited with friends and family gone before, celebrating his ascension into Heaven. The family is planning a celebration of Ken’s life sometime in September.
