Julie Mosher

December 19, 1961 — September 11, 2025

Julie Ann (Burton) Mosher

(lovingly known as Aunt Nary, Ommy, Nomi, Grandma Mosher, and “Canary”)

Julie Ann (Burton) Mosher, 63, of Kent City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on September 11th, after a long and courageous battle with bile duct liver cancer.

Born on December 19, 1961, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Julie was the daughter of Edward Albert Burton and June Lorraine (Lipscomb) Burton. She grew up in Coopersville and remained a lifelong resident of Michigan.

Julie married James Mosher III, and together they raised two children, Jason and Jamie. She was a devoted mother who always stood by her children, offering unwavering love and guidance throughout their lives.

Julie’s life was defined by her passions, her warmth, and her ability to bring people together. She loved fishing, collecting Star Wars memorabilia—especially anything related to Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon—and was always up for board games, card games, and video games that gathered family and friends around the table. Known as the “neighborhood mom,” Julie extended her care beyond her immediate family, treating everyone as if they were her own.

She had a gift for hospitality, often planning gatherings that centered on food, laughter, and conversation. Holidays held a special place in her heart, particularly the tradition of baking cookies and making candy to share with loved ones and neighbors. Her family remembers her as the trivia queen, with an unmatched memory and knowledge that kept everyone on their toes—always quick to set the record straight with her sharp wit.

Julie also cherished the tradition of Red Flannel Days in Cedar Springs, where she proudly dressed in her red flannel gown and cap, complete with a matching blanket. Family gatherings often found her surrounded by loved ones, enjoying chili and board games at Grandma B and Grandpa’s home.

Julie’s protective nature, fierce love, and deep sense of family made her the heart of her home and community. She will be remembered as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Surviving loved ones include:

Her children: Jason (Katye) Mosher and Jamie (Jeff) Bowen

Her grandchildren: Elic Bowen, Ambrosia Willett, Gwendalynn Willett, and Robert Doane

Her great-grandchildren: Satori Steele and Atlas Mosher

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Albert Burton and June Lorraine (Lipscomb) Burton; her stepmother, Yvonne Burton; and her mother-in-law, Barbara Mosher.

Julie’s final wishes were for cremation. A memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date, when family and friends can come together to honor her memory in the way she lived—with joy, connection, and love.
