Julia Marlene Sauls, affectionately known as Marty to her loved ones, was a beacon of light and love to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Born on December 12, 1956, in the bustling city of Detroit, Marty embraced life with a spirit of joy and generosity that was unmistakable. Her journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on November 5, 2024, in the serene town of Muskegon, where she was surrounded by the warmth of her family as she passed away due to natural causes. Marty's life was a testament to the power of caring and compassion. After completing her education at WCCC, she dedicated her professional life to being a caregiver, a role that was not just a job but a calling. She poured her heart into helping others, touching countless lives with her kindness and empathy. Marty's innate ability to connect with people on a deep and personal level was one of the many gifts she shared freely with the world. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence.

Marty was the proud mother of Christina Ketterman Jonathan Schultz, and James Ketterman (Ashley Brown) as well as the loving mother-in-law to Casey Taivaloja. She was the cherished grandmother of Joseph and Christian Moton, Diamond Aldridge, Kelsey Collins, Faith and Austyn Taivaloja, and James and Leland Ketterman. Her great-grandchildren, London Moton and Jayce Odem, and special friend Orville Jackson brought her immeasurable joy. Marty nurtured each of her family members with a unique blend of love, humor, and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Marty's interests were as rich and varied as her personality. She found solace in the pages of a good book and delight in the company of her family. She had an affinity for the simple pleasures in life, like savoring her favorite snacks, watching episodes of "Law and Order," and losing herself in the melodies of her cherished music. These moments of joy were the threads that wove the tapestry of her fulfilling life. Those who knew Marty would describe her as thoughtful, funny, and faith-filled.
