Judith H Anderson nee Thurow, age 84, died surrounded by loved ones after an extended illness on Sunday July 28, 2024 at the Woodlands in DeWitt, MI.
Born June 19, 1940, she is survived by her special friend Dick Nowak, sister Susan Thurow of Ovid, MI, brother John (Joanne) Thurow of Columbus, NC, niece Donna (Jon) Seeger, nephews Jason (Amber) Thurow and Brian Thurow, two step daughters: Deborah Goldstein and Beth (John) McKinley, and many loving step grand children and grand nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Ambler nee House and Walter Thurow; her husband, David Goldstein; and niece, Cindy Miller.
Judy was born in Clare, MI and grew up on a farm in Charlotte, MI until the family moved to AuGres, MI where she graduated high school in 1958. After high school she attended Michigan State University where she earned a degree in Mass Communications in 1962 while working at the State News among other pursuits.
Judy had a variety of diverse experiences and lived in a number of exciting places as she pursued her career in communications. She Iived in Pensacola, FL and later Sanford Air Base with her aviator husband and worked for the Sanford Herald in Advertising Sales.
Judy later moved to Chicago and began working for a production agency creating corporate communications for other companies.
After Chicago, Judy moved to Albuquerque, NM and worked for the federal government at Sandia Lab doing public relations work for some very interesting projects.
In 1972 Judy moved to New York City. Starting out as a bartender, she then started working first at KPMG-Peat Marwick and later moved to Metropolitan Life as the Director of Media Services. Judy left Met Life in 1983, moved to the upper west side in the Chelsea Neighborhood and founded Judy Anderson Enterprises, Inc. which specialized in corporate video and other communication services for
clients such as AT&T, Merrill Lynch and Coopers & Lybrand. It was an exciting time in New York City.
In 1991 Judy and Dave Goldstein moved to Los Angeles. Judy became the Executive Director of the Laser Disc Association (LDA) in Santa Monica, CA. The LDA worked to bring major movie releases to the new world of highest quality video material, Laser Disc, for home video. As part of the LDA Judy was able to work with many of the great names of the movie industry such as Robert Redford, Paul Newman, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Leonard Maltin, Mel Brooks, Julie Andrews, and others who were devoted to seeing their works presented in the best possible manner and medium.
Judy and Dave moved to Corrales, NM in 1997 from which they traveled to both domestic and international locations, enjoyed festive occasions with many friends and relatives. Judy continued to be active in the video industry as there was a transition from Laser Disc to DVD. Judy also became engaged with Creative Albuquerque whose goal was to stimulate a vibrant arts and cultural sector. She and Dave were avid Lobos Women's basketball fans.
Judy reconnected with a special friend, Dick Nowak, from AuGres after Dave passed away. For the next several years Judy and Dick divided their time between Albuquerque, Florida and Michigan, enjoying the warmth of Florida in the Winter and the beauty of Michigan in the Summer.
In the last year of her life, Judy moved to Dewitt, MI to be closer to family when her illness progressed.
The family would like to thank the Woodlands of Dewitt and Sparrow Hospice for helping to keep Judy safe and comfortable in her last days.
There will be no formal services and the body has been cremated.
