Joseph "Len"
Kennick
January 25, 1959 – March 24, 2026
Joseph "Len" Kennick, a beloved soul who touched countless lives in Muskegon, MI, was born on January 25, 1959, and peacefully passed away on March 24, 2026, in the city where his story began. Diagnosed with cancer, Len faced the challenge with remarkable courage, not allowing his illness to define him. He lived life on his terms, embracing every moment with strength and determination until the end.
A lifelong church musician, Len's rhythm was felt not only through the steady beats he created on his drums but also through the harmony he brought to the hearts of those around him. Music was his faithful companion, a language through which he expressed his soul. Beyond his musical gifts, Len was a passionate cook who delighted in crafting meals that brought family and friends together. His love for the game shone through spirited matches of spades and dominos, where laughter and camaraderie flowed freely.
Len leaves behind a tapestry of cherished family members who carry his legacy forward. His beloved mother, Mary Stanford, remains a pillar of love and support. He is survived by his sisters, Charlene and Angie "Chelle," as well as his sister Kim and brother Mike, who together shared a lifetime of memories. His children—Lekesha (& her husband, Mark), Sonia, Cherell, Joseph III, and Jason—continue to honor his memory, along with eight living grandchildren whose lives he enriched in countless ways. Among them, a special grandchild who preceded him now waits at the pearly gates in heaven, a tender connection that brings comfort amidst loss.
Len’s family circle also warmly includes his father, Reverend Joseph Kennick Sr., whose spiritual influence shaped much of Len's compassionate and giving nature. He had many beloved nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; among them, nephew Tristan "Jugg" Mabry held a particularly special bond, testament to the depth and breadth of Len's affection.
Beyond blood ties, Len's life was marked by beautiful friendships, including a lasting and respectful bond with his ex-wife, Brenda (Kennick) Miller. Equally enduring was the brotherly connection he shared with Gerald and Pastor Jeff Huff, bonds that stood steadfast through time.
Joseph "Len" Kennick's journey through life was one of resilience, spirit, and unwavering love. Though cancer challenged him, it could never diminish the essence of the man who played rhythm through life’s highs and lows with dignity and joy. His legacy reverberates not just in melody and memory but in the hearts of all who knew him, forever echoing the extraordinary man he was. He will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.
