Jose Ramos

April 17, 1954 — November 29, 2024

Jose “JoJo” Luis Ramos, a cherished son, brother, and friend--left this world on November 29th, 2024, after a long, difficult, but courageous battle with his health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 70, joining his mother Lucia Ramos, and father Luis Ramos in their heavenly home.

Born on April 17th, 1954, Jojo's life was characterized by an infectious sense of humor, a love for adventure, and unwavering passion for everything he set his heart on and his mind to. In his early years, JoJo grew up in south Texas with his sister, Janie Sanchez, and his brother Manuel Ramos. It was not long before JoJo’s wanderlust took him to the open road, adventuring across the United States, before at last finding his forever home in Hartford, Michigan. There he thrived for quite some time, sharing his distinctive sense of humor flavored with Dad jokes, a love for Tejano music, and a passion for rebuilding trucks, bringing them back to life. The Aranda Family has been part of his Michigan family since his teens. Years passed with JoJo living out his days, content in retirement forming a close bond with the Kevin Lietzau family. He is cherished and the memory of his humor, his drive, his talent, is carried on there to this day. He is remembered and loved in Texas by his brother Manuel and his family, and sister Janie and her family as well.

JoJo held a great love for living life for all that it was worth. In his final days with his failing health, he was ready to move forward and rest in his heavenly home. JoJo’s departure has left a space, an emptiness, in the fabric of the lives of those he touched. In spite of this, his spirit and ability to inspire love and kindness live on in those of us here able to remember him. We give a big thank you to the kind and compassionate healthcare professionals of Cornwell Health Butterworth Hospital who gave Joe such beautiful care in his time of need.

As we say goodbye to Jose Luis, to JoJo, we celebrate the remarkable man he was, and we take comfort in knowing that his friendship, laughter, stories, and the love he shared will continue to resound in the hearts of all who have known him. He will be deeply missed, but his vibrant spirit, and legacy of joy, exploration, and living life to the fullest will never be forgotten or lost. Thank you.
