Johnny Otis Glass Jr., beloved husband, loving and protective father, family man, and friend passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born on September 12, 1977, in Rock Island, Illinois, Johnny's life was a testament to the power of love, passion, and wisdom. He was a man who not only lived with joy but also brought immense happiness to everyone around him.


Johnny's journey through life was filled with the laughter and warmth of a close-knit family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory forever his devoted wife, Amanda Glass, and their children, Jaiden, Jordon, and Amiyah, all of Grand Rapids. Johnny was a guiding light in the lives of his family, including his special nephew/son Xavier Greer of Clarksville, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Ophelia Glass of Peoria, Illinois whose guidance, grace, and wisdom made him the man that he was. He was a cherished Godson to RC Thomas of Peoria, Illinois. He had an unbreakable bond with his God-sisters Elonda Cattledge of Houston, Texas, Rakeisha Murray (Ryan) of Peoria, Illinois, and Shalice and Shanice Thomas of Indianapolis, Indiana. He also leaves his brother and sister Joseph Glass of Jacksonville, Florida, and Carla Glass of Peoria, Illinois to cherish his memory.He also leaves behind his "favorite" mother-in-law and sister-in-law Jackie and Stacey Timmer both of Wayland, Michigan. His father, Johnny O. Glass Sr. of East Moline, Illinois. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins to also find comfort in their memories of him.


Described by those who knew him as loving, passionate, and wise, Johnny was a beacon of light and love. He had a rare gift for making those around him feel valued and important. His insightful wisdom, often shared during times spent with his closest confidants his Best Friend/Brother Melvin Hanson II and his wife Jennifer of Caledonia, Michigan, Best Friend/ God-sister Lacisha Cattledge of Peoria, Illinois, and Best Friend Shavonna Richardson of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known him, but extremely missed by his two favorite cousins Jeff Macklin of Houston, Texas, and David Spearman of Joliet, Illinois.


He was preceeded in death by his Father in law Curtis Mayfield Sr ( Sugarpie) Maternal Grandparents Eddie and Laura Ivy, Paternal Grand Parents Halter and Fannie Mae Glass, God-brother Gregory Hightower Jr, two special uncles John Blue, and Floyd Blue.


Johnny's passions were as diverse as they were engaging. He relished the time spent at the gun range, the thrill of travel, the pleasure of a scenic drive, and the escape into the world of movies and TV. Above all, his greatest joy was found in the simple, precious moments with his family. His love for them was the keystone of his life.


Johnny's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His life was a beautiful example of how to love deeply, laugh often, and live with an open heart.


As we bid farewell to Johnny Otis Glass Jr., we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. His memory will live on, not just in the extraordinary moments of life, but in the everyday acts of kindness he showed to all. He will be profoundly missed, but the love he shared will resonate through generations.


A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us in celebrating the life of Johnny Otis Glass Jr., a man who was, and always will be, the embodiment of love and light.


The family would also like to give special recognition to his Corewell Health Palliative Care Team Carole and Libby and Paige from the Trinity-Health Palliative Care Team. You all were absolutely amazing, and gave care and passion when our days were the darkest. Please find peace and comfort knowing you were a tremendous part of his life. I couldn't have asked for better people to take care of him, and for that I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. You all have grown to be a part of our family within the short time that we've known you.
