Joan Kay Domingo, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Battle Creek, MI. surrounded by her three loving children. Born on April 18, 1952, in Albion, MI, Joan's life was filled with love, family, and the simple joys of nature.
After graduating from Concord Community Schools, Joan married Thomas Dishaw, and they had two children, Chad and Joy. Later, she married Joe Domingo, and they welcomed a daughter, Heather. Joan devoted her life to nurturing and raising her three children. Her home was a place filled with warmth, creativity, and laughter, where everyone always felt welcome.
In addition to her role as a stay-at-home mom, Joan worked for years alongside her sisters at the Silver Spoon Café in Concord. There, she shared her infectious humor and caring spirit with the community, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Dishaw. She was also preceded by her father, Robert Tesch, her mother, Eva Tesch, and her siblings, Sharon Ward, Deb Cooper, and Randy Tesch. Despite these profound losses, Joan's unwavering strength and resilience shone through.
She is survived by her devoted children, Chad Dishaw (Kelly) of Battle Creek, MI, Joy Dishaw of Battle Creek, MI, and Heather Domingo of Jackson, MI. Joan's legacy of love is carried on by her adoring grandchildren, TJ Dishaw, Reagan Dishaw, Makenna (Brock) Yeakey, Kaidon Otto, David Lucas Dawson, Grace Hess, and Ethan Hess, as well as her cherished great-grandson, Everett Yeakey. She is also survived by her sisters Sandy Neeley, Pam Benn, and Holly Sibal and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her deeply; as will all of those who had the privilege of calling her family or friend.
Joan had a beautifully creative nature that she shared with her loved ones through art projects and holiday decorating. She was a gifted artist and always had an eye for color. Joan had a profound appreciation for the natural world. She found solace and joy in watching the birds and deer that frequented her backyard, a pastime that brought her immense peace and happiness. Her love for nature was only eclipsed by her love for her grandchildren, with whom she spent countless precious moments.
Joan's life will be celebrated in the memories we hold dear and the stories we continue to share. She has left us a legacy of love that will continue to blossom and grow in the lives of her family and friends. Joan Domingo was, and always will be, a beloved mother & sister & friend whose memory will be treasured forever.
In accordance with family wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date.
