Jill earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University on May 13, 2003, a distinguished achievement that laid the foundation for her purposeful and active life. Her professional journey was closely intertwined with her family, as she worked alongside her husband, Bill Baber, managing the daily operations and dispatching responsibilities of their concrete construction company in the southwest corner of Michigan. Jill’s role was integral to the business’s success, embodying a work ethic that was nothing short of extraordinary. Those who had the privilege of knowing her recognized Jill as one of the hardest working people they had ever met—always pushing forward, never asking for anything in return, and continuously powering through each challenge with grace and determination.

Jill’s family extended to her loving husband Bill; her mother and stepfather, Jami and James Erdman; her father, Steve Hines; sister Haley and brother-in-law Brandon Poort; brother-in-law Nelson Baber; and her mother- and father-in-law, Roxann and Ken Crum, as well as her father-in-law Nelson Baber Sr. She was also surrounded by the warmth of an extended family, including Uncle Jon and Robin, and her aunt Jan from Mississippi. Jill’s close friends, whom she regarded as extended family, and her entire community held her in the highest esteem, a testament to the genuine connections she fostered throughout her life.
