Jerry Joslin, a beloved father, fiancé, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2026, surrounded by those who cherished him most. Born on April 23, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jerry’s life was marked by strength, passion, and an unwavering dedication to his family despite the many challenges he faced.
From a young age, Jerry battled heart disease, a struggle that prevented him from working in traditional ways. Yet, this never dimmed his spirit or his determination. His true joy was found in the simple pleasures of life—tinkering with cars, a hobby that brought him immense pride and satisfaction. Among his proudest accomplishments were the cars he rebuilt and lovingly painted, each one a testament to his meticulous nature and creative soul.
Jerry attended Kellogsville schools, where his quiet and stubborn demeanor took root. He was a man set in his own ways, with a big heart that sometimes showed through a wry sense of humor. Even in pain, Jerry pushed through, driven by his steadfast love for family and life. Those who knew him best remember a man who might have been quiet, but whose presence was always steady and comforting.
A true family man, Jerry was famous for his crab salad—a well-loved dish that became a cherished staple at every family gathering. His commitment to loved ones was unwavering; he always showed up, no matter what, embodying a sense of loyalty and devotion that deeply touched everyone around him.
His love extended beyond his immediate family to include NASCAR racing and his beloved grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. For 39 years, Jerry shared his life with his devoted fiancé, Donna Smith, a partnership built on deep love and mutual support.
Jerry is survived by those who carry his legacy forward: his fiancé Donna Smith; his brother Gary Joslin and sister-in-law Joanne; niece Teena Joslin and Brad Self; nephew Daniel Joslin; children Jennifer Ziober and her husband David, DeWayne Smith and his wife Cassandra, and Shane Smith; as well as eight grandchildren—Patricia (Tahun Mays), Alesia (Cory Dwyer) VanZant, Danny VanZant, Dakota (Leanna Lloyd) Smith, Annistacia (Aaron Bronson) Smith, Cassidy Smith, Donna Smith, and Amarae Smith—who enriched his later years and great-grandchildren who carried forward his spirit.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Lee and Anne Joslin, and his brother Scott Joslin, whose memories he held close to his heart.
Though he was stubborn and quietly set in his ways, Jerry Joslin’s legacy will forever be remembered as one of resilience, love, and a big, tender heart. His family and friends will carry his memory with them always, grateful for the moments he shared and the love that he gave so generously throughout his life.
