On Monday April 6, 2026, Jerry J. Brennan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and soon-to-be great-grandfather, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home.
Jerry was born in November, 1941, to James and Marguerite Brennan in Grand Rapids, MI. He grew up in Alpine Township on a small farm with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated from Catholic Central in 1959, joined the National Guards serving proudly for 6 years and went on to become a Master Plumber and dedicated Union member for 60 years. He also served his Kent City community as a volunteer fire fighter for several years. In 1969 he met his soulmate, Dianne with whom he shared 56 years of dreams and memorable adventures. They raised three children on a hobby farm in a house they restored and enjoyed for 52 years.
Jerry was an outdoor enthusiast who loved fishing, hunting and working the land. Time on a tractor, in a fishing boat or his hunting coop brought him peace and relaxation.
Jerry is survived by his wife Dianne, his children Jennifer (Maurice) Awad, Nancy Brennan and Jim (Apryl) Brennan and his grandchildren Ellie (Braxton) Foster, Sam (Camryn) Awad, Sophia, Zac and Lena Awad, Avery, Ainsley and Ally Brennan and Clara Brennan. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Tom and his sister Carol (Robert) Clouse. Three siblings remain: Ken (Pat), Dan (Debby) and Jane (Don) Rosie.
Jerry was a man of strong faith and steadfast devotion to his wife and family. He loved his grandchildren and taught them all about nature and how to fish. A family week at Pickerel Lake was the highlight of many summers. In recent years a home in Florida gave him relief from the cold winters of Michigan and more opportunities to fish.
The family extends gratitude to the wonderful staff of Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence in Muskegon for their outstanding care and compassion for Jerry and our family during his stay. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, please consider Harbor Hospice, 1050 West Western, Suite 400, Muskegon, MI 49441.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held this summer.
