James C. Card Sr.

James (Jimmy) C. Card Sr. age 46, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 13th, 2025. He was born April 1st, 1979 in Grand Rapids. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather.

Jimmy loved his family and friends including his special family at Quinn & Tuites. He didn't care if he knew you or not, if you were hurting, he would try his best to make you feel better. Nine out of ten times he would succeed and at least make you smile before he left you. If you needed anything he would give you the shirt off his back, literally.

He was self-taught mechanic and body man, inspired by his Grandfather Edwin Merrills. He did body work, which he loved doing with his friends. He started by working on bicycles when he was 8 and then upgraded to mopeds, then to cars. It grew into quite a passion in life.

James was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Jon Card. He is survived by his children Emily Card (Chandler), James Card Jr., Kate Simonait, Blake Card, Jacob Potter, Skylie Card, Malachi Card, Mother and Stepfather Sharon and Ed Hanis, Sister Sheila Haugen, Brother Luke (Nikki) Vreeswyk, 4 month old Granddaughter Willow, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 26th, 2025, at the North Kent Eagles (186 E. Divison St. Sparta 49345) at 4:00 PM. Parking is available at Balyeat Park and the Dollar General.
