Isabel Espinoza

August 14, 1929 — January 2, 2025

Isabel Espinoza, age 95, fell asleep in death on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

She was born on August 14, 1929, in Brownsville, TX, to the late Ignacio Arana and Rafela (Ramirez) Nuno.

On August 23, 1947, she married the late Louis Norman Bourne, and together they raised 8 children: Jack (Sharon), Rosie (Dave Joria), Louis (Jan), Ruthie, Timothy (Denise), Tom (Cheri), Esther, and Paul (Kathy). Isabel was preceded in death by her son, Louis; two daughters, Esther and Ruthie; her baby brother, Ignacio; her second husband, Richard Espinoza; and her sister, Petra Walters.

Isabel will be deeply missed by her 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Isabel worked for Muskegon Public Schools Adult Ed Program as a parapro and Spanish interpreter until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, making little book bags for the children, and doing alterations and hemming on many of the brother’s suits in her congregation. She was known for her good cooking and made delicious oatmeal cake, chocolate fudge, baked beans, and flour tortillas.

She loved music and dancing, and her home was filled with the sound of guitars and songs being rehearsed as her sons and daughter played music for the band they started as teenagers. Isabel was so proud of them and was always at their concerts to hear "her boys" play music and dance out on the dance floor.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend and loved by everyone who knew her.

The most important date in Isabel's life was when she got baptized with her sister, Petra, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 30, 1954. She loved studying the Bible and sharing what she learned with her family and everyone she met. She made attending meetings, assemblies, and conventions a priority in her life and rarely missed a meeting at the Kingdom Hall. Isabel's treasured spiritual heritage that she passed on to her children is a legacy of hope that when we die, we will live again in a promised paradise on earth where sickness and death will be no more. (Rev 21: 3, 4)

We look forward to seeing her again.
