January 25, 1930 – January 19, 2024


Of South Carolina and Michigan. Born In Guelph, Ontario, Canada of Leaman and Maude (Jones) Wilson, youngest of their nine children.


Widow of the late Earl S Ashton II of New York and South Carolina and of the late Jaxon Hice, of Charlotte, North Carolina.


Holly was a world traveler and innovator in the seafood business and held several processing patents. Holly loved to share a story or two about her adventures, the people she met and the wonders she saw. Her interests extended to the arts. She was president of the Opera Guild and the Philharmonic Orchestra, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, for several years. She was also an author of five books of fiction and loved to paint flowers, landscapes and wild animals.


Holly is survived by her niece and caregiver, Helen Sands of Casnovia, Michigan where she has resided since 2022. She is also survived by her nephews, Richard Sypien, Zach Sands, Nick Sands and nieces Michelle (Brian) Amante, Sandi (Mike) Doctor; many dear friends including the Rat Pack, Barrett Postlewait, Nancy Lewis, Kathie Wilson, and so many other co-conspirators.


Holly will be missed sorely, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts, but her stories, her wit, her grace, will always be remembered and cherished.
