Hillechin Horton

Hillechin Horton was born on Dec. 31, 1942 in Winschoten, The Netherlands to the late, Antoon and Odelia Haan. She was the youngest of four children. In 1956, when Hillechin was 13, she and her family emigrated to the United States. After being here for some time, she met Edward Horton at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Eventually they married, going from dance partners to devoted partners in life. They bought a small house in the Grand Rapids area where Hillechin enjoyed her cats, decorating their house, and feeding the wildlife in their garden. They attended Grand Rapids First Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Horton; her parents; a sister, Minnie Oosterbaan; and two brothers, Bart Haan and Andy Haan. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Tena Haan; a brother-in-law, Nick Oosterbaan; and several nieces and nephews. No memorial services have been planned at this time.
