Gina Griffis

May 25, 1962 — November 27, 2024

Gina Lee Griffis, a woman of faith and boundless love, was called home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2024, in the peaceful surroundings of her home in Rockford, Michigan. Her journey on this temporal plane ended after a valiant battle with cancer, a testament to her strength and courage.

Gina was a cherished soul who walked this earth with grace and left an indelible mark of love on all whom she encountered. Born on May 25, 1962, in Traverse City, Michigan, Gina was a beacon of light from her very first breath. Gina grew up on a cherry farm and took pride in assisting her parents and working that farm.

She was the beloved wife of Richard Griffis for 37 years. This partnership stood as a testament of true love and unwavering support. Gina was a nurturing mother to Megan (Ray)Neill and Mitchell (Andrea) Griffis. GiGi was a loving grandmother to David, Mason, Riley, and Mila. She will be remembered by siblings John (Georgia) Pulcipher; Julie (David Stevenson) Pulcipher; nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Marilyn Pulcipher.

Her love for family, knew no bounds, and she instilled in her children, values of kindness, resilience, forgiveness, and the joy of living each day to the fullest.

Gina was a woman of intellect and dedication. After graduating from Traverse City high school, she matriculated to Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in food science. This foundation led her to a distinguished career as a Global Seafood Procurement Manager with Gordon Food Service.

Gina‘s work was not just a job; it was a calling, a way to serve others to her passion for quality and excellence. Although she was able to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world, her biggest joy was meeting people from those places. She established many friendships in her travels.

Gina‘s interest were as varied as the many colors of a sunset over her beloved beach property on Lake Michigan. Gina found joy in travel, exploring God‘s creation from the majestic mountains to the vast oceans. She cultivated beauty in her gardens, a reflection of the care she took nurturing every living thing. While crafting with her grandchildren, she passed on her creative spirit and the warmth of her love with every stitch and breaststroke. She often played the piano while her daughter completed homework.

Gina was a loving soul, a selfless giver who put the needs of her family before her own. She was adventurous, never shying away from the path of less traveled.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care for their care and compassion.
