Gerard "Jerry" Vanspronsen

Gerard "Jerry" J. VanSpronsen Jr., age 70, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Born on April 11, 1955, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jerry lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, deep love for his family, and an unwavering faith in God.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife Twila VanSpronsen; sons Jeremy (Natalie), Stephan (Ashley), and Benjamin (Anne) VanSpronsen; and grandchildren Taylor, Kolton, and Trystan. He is also survived by his mother Joan VanSpronsen. He was preceded in death by his father Gerard J. VanSpronsen Sr.

Jerry built a respected career as a talented tile installer whose craftsmanship was recognized multiple times in the Parade of Homes. His attention to detail and pride in his work left a lasting impression on countless homes and Malls throughout the United States. In recent years, he took to the open road as a steel hauler for G & F—a role that combined his strong work ethic with his love for travel.

He found joy in exploring the country behind the wheel of his semi-truck and cherished the freedom of the open road. Camping brought him peace and connection with nature, but perhaps nothing brought him more peace than watching boats pass beneath the Mackinac Bridge—his favorite place to reflect and relax.

At home or behind a grill, Jerry was known for grilling steaks to perfection and sharing laughter with those he loved most. He was truly the life of every gathering—his jokes lighting up rooms and lifting spirits wherever he went. His optimism was infectious; even through life's challenges and personal battles, Jerry remained a beacon of positivity and strength.

A man of deep Christian faith, Jerry loved God with all his heart. His spiritual devotion guided him throughout his life and inspired those around him to find hope even in difficult times.

Jerry’s legacy lives on through the smiles he brought to others’ faces and the warmth he shared so freely. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire joy and resilience in their hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Scotts Community Center in Scotts, MI on Sunday June 8th, 2025 from 4:00p – 6:00p.
