Geraldine (Sue) Mulder

August 8, 1946 — May 6, 2026

Barryton

Geraldine Suzanne Mulder, born August 8, 1946, in Hastings, Michigan, passed away peacefully under Hospice care at The Orchard in Big Rapids, Michigan May 6, 2026. Sue, as her friends and family called her, loved to fish, camp and had a compassionate love for animals. Hastings, Michigan was called home during her early years, but Sue spent the majority of her life as a Barryton, Michigan resident. For over 40 years she had a thriving home business and was fondly known as the local dog groomer.

Sue’s artistic creations could be seen all around her home, and she found great delight in gifting her creations to friends and family. For several years Sue also found great joy in fostering several girls and boys that passed through her home. She also was a kid at heart and had a way of creating good memories with her grandkids and foster kids.

Sue was the second youngest daughter of the late Virgil and Ruby (Reneau) Whipple. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Mulder, her beloved young daughter Karleen, and her sisters Virginia VanZandt, Helen Bell-Blumenschein, and June VanValkenburg.

Sue is survived by her sisters Beverly (and Bob) Conklin, Carol (and Bob) Andrus; her children Kay (and David) Gross, Kim (and Dennis) Wassenaar, Martin Mulder, and Devon (and Abby) Mulder; her grandchildren John (and Kim) Stanton, Ajay (and Tiffany) Stanton, Patrick (and Kimmy) Stanton, Brittni (and Clarence) Augustin, and the newest member of the family, Alaiya Rae Mulder. Sue’s legacy also includes 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 7, 2026 in Barryton, followed by an Internment at Fuller Family Cemetery. Details about the service are pending.
