Gerald Haas

September 13, 1941 — August 18, 2024

Gerald “Jerry” Haas passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday surrounded by his family and his sweet dog Roxy. He was born to his parents, Polly, and Marty Haas, on September 13, 1941.


Jerry excelled in track, baseball, football, and wrestling in his youth. In his senior year at Comstock High School, he was captain of the football team and Homecoming King. While there, he met the love of his life, Maryesther.


Jerry continued his passion for sports. He was an avid golfer, bicyclist, runner, speed walker, bowler, and fisherman and loved and respected nature. He loved the Detroit Tigers and the Lions!


He retired from General Motor’s Fisher Body Plant in Kalamazoo, after 38 years of service and dedication.


Jerry, AKA Daddy-O, was a loving husband, father of six, grampa and brother-in-law with a great sense of humor and full of life. He loved playing practical jokes and making people laugh.


He is survived by his wife of 64 years, a son, Theodore “Jax”: daughters, Wendy, Nancy Jo (C. Gibson), Robin (M. Sides), Jari Lynn (G. Sowell), Heidi, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
