George Sites

George Sites, age 81, died January 30, 2020 at Yorkshire Manor in Grand Rapids, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor and son, George, as well as several extended family members. He was born on September 10, 1938 in Baraboo, WI. He graduated from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA in 1960, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics. George then joined the U.S. Army in 1961 and served 5 ½ years in active reserves, becoming a Staff Sergeant. He worked at many jobs in five different states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan. He had 3 successful businesses. When George was 58, he returned to college and earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. His greatest joy and satisfaction came from working with children with ADD, ADHD and traumatic brain injuries. He was a proud lifetime member of the Masons. He counseled victims of natural disasters for the American Red Cross across the country. George also volunteered for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department after retirement. Special thanks to Warren and Barb Wiwat for their kindness and friendship. Honoring his wishes, George has been cremated. There will be no funeral service. Memorial donations in his name may be made to your favorite charity of choice.
