Frank James "Jim" Hines, a cherished father, grandfather, friend, and brother, passed away at the age of 64 on August 20, 2024, in Kalamazoo, MI, after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 5, 1960, in Vicksburg, MI, to Herbert & Shelby Hines. Jim was known for his loving, friendly, and generous nature. Jim graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1979, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future endeavors. His professional journey began at Stewart Sutherland and later led him to IAC (Lear), where he dedicated 22 years before retiring in January of 2024. Jim's work ethic and his involvement in various associations earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Family was the cornerstone of Jim's life. He is survived by his loving children, Patricia (Vincent) of Mendon, Frank (Kate) Hines of Kalamazoo, and Justin (Jessica) Hines of Fayetteville, NC. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Amaijha,Dahntae,Brielle,Traven& Ayden whom he adored, and his granddogs, Loki, Luna, Shiloh, Nova, Melo, and Lonzo. Jim's bond with his family was evident in the joy he found in watching his grandchildren's sports events, taekwondo classes, and scooter tricks. Jim's best friend & mother of his children Linda, stood by him through thick and thin, a testament to his ability to form deep and lasting connections. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Laura (Tim) Superczynski, and his sister-in-law, Angela Macey. He was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews and held a special place in the hearts of his aunts and extended family members. His parents, Herbert and Shelby (Finley) Hines, instilled in him the values of love and kindness that he carried throughout his life. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Hines, his brother, Mike Hines, and his niece, Nikki. Jim's unique sense of humor was one of his most memorable traits. He had an endearing and playful way of showing affection – if he flipped you off, it was his way of saying "hi," a gesture that brought laughter and smiles up to his last days. Sunday drives were a favorite pastime for Jim, as he relished the opportunity to visit his children and grandchildren. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as the companionship of his granddogs and the excitement of family gatherings. Jim's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him. He was a man who loved deeply, gave freely, and lived life with a generous heart. His presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and his legacy will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we bid farewell to Jim, we celebrate the life of a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and warmth. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to feel his love and friendship. In honor of Jim's life, we remember not just the sorrow of his passing but the joy he brought to every moment. His laughter, his unwavering support, and his genuine care for others will never be forgotten. Jim's life was a journey of love, friendship, and dedication, and his story will be told with fondness and admiration for generations to come.
