Eric "Chopper" Walton, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 57. Born on November 25, 1967, in Muskegon, Michigan, Eric was a cherished member of his community and an unforgettable presence in the lives of those who knew him.

Chopper graduated from Central High School in Grand Rapids, where he likely started honing his trademark sense of humor that brought joy to many. Known for his contagious laugh, he was not just a jokester; he embodied love and care, always striving to uplift those around him. His sweet demeanor made him a stand-up guy in every sense of the phrase, creating an environment where laughter was as common as love.

Eric's legacy is anchored in his family. He is survived by his mother Regina "Rita" Lattimore, and father, Roger Lee Smith. He leaves behind his loving daughter, Chelsey Sear, and sons Edwin Walton and Earl Walton, who will forever cherish the lessons and laughter they shared with him. The joy of his grandchildren—Za'Mere, Elias, Silas, Evander, and Za'Maree—brought Chopper immense pride, and he held a special place in their hearts as a doting grandfather. His bond with his special niece Za'Brea and great nephew Josiah was equally meaningful, exemplifying the love that reached across generations.

While Chopper has departed from this world, he is reunited with those who have gone before him, including his beloved Granny, Viola Jamerson, and his aunts, Charlene Nichols, Georgia Darnell, and Rose Jones. He also joins his nephew La'Vonte Moss, uncle Don "Paw Paw" Steele, and his brothers Kirk Lester, James "Jumbo" Owens, and his baby brother, Edwin "Bunchie" Walton, in eternal rest.
