Elizabeth "Betty" Buxton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on November 3, 1943, in Lansing, Michigan. She passed peacefully on August 1, 2025, in Laingsburg, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love, care, and countless cherished memories.
Betty dedicated her life to her family, proudly raising four children: Jeff (Lisa) Buxton, Jennifer (Dan) Pettit, Melissa Miller, and Debbie Buxton. Her nurturing spirit extended not only to her children but also to her grandchildren, Christopher Diethrich, Jared (Becca) Buxton, Amanda (Ryan) White, Jordan Buxton, Andrew (Ashley) Diethrich, Shianne Buxton, and Nathan Estwick, each of whom she adored deeply. Betty's family continued to grow with the addition of her great-grandchildren: Justin White, Clayton Curtis, Hailey White, Trinitie Newhall, Annabell Buxton, Abby Diethrich, Austin Diethrich, and Reagan Buxton, who brought even more joy to her life.
Betty’s strong ties to her family were evident in everything she did. She was also survived by her brother Bud (Mary) Croy, who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Allen Buxton, and her loving parents, Beatrice and Clarion Croy. Betty also deeply missed her sister Linda Townsen, who had touched her life in profound ways.
After graduating from Lansing Eastern High School, Betty embarked on a fulfilling career at Michigan State University, where she retired. Although her professional accomplishments were notable, it was her role as a mother and grandmother that she regarded as her proudest achievement.
Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished long hours crocheting doilies and afghans, creating beautiful pieces that were not only functional but also filled with love. Her green thumb blossomed in her yard, where she cultivated vibrant flowers that brought beauty to her home. Additionally, her passion for computer games provided her hours of entertainment and interaction, keeping her spirit playful and vibrant.
A memorial service in honor of Elizabeth "Betty" Buxton will be held on August 6, 2025, at the Bath American Legion, located at 5480 Clark Road, Bath Township, MI 48808. Friends and family are invited to gather at 1:00 PM to celebrate her life and the indelible impact she made on all who knew her.
Betty’s warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to shine through her family and all the lives she touched.
