Elaine Decker, devoted matriarch, loving wife, and devoted farming partner, has joined her love of nearly 70 years in heaven. We are all so thankful that she and Jack are together again.
Elaine was born on June 1st, 1937 to Lucy and William Dewey Knight, in Brooksville, Florida. Elaine’s childhood was filled with adventure and love with her cousins, especially her best friend/Aunt Adelaide.
Elaine was visiting her mother in Michigan when she met the love of her life, Jack Decker. Jack and Elaine began their beautiful lives together when they married on September 26, 1956. They brought two children into the world, Patricia and John.
Elaine and Jack were able to raise their family on a beautiful and successful farm in Fennville. The farm allowed for nieces and nephew, to work, learn, and grow right along with their children. Elaine was the keeper of the books, master of the kitchen, yet still always eager to join the work outside with her fashionable wide brimmed hats.
Once farming season was over, Elaine and Jack were able to travel the United States in search of rocks for their new artistic endeavor, jewelry making. They were also able to spend many winters in Okeechobee, Florida with their friends. Elaine raised her children as well as spent treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known by many as a certified beautician.
Elaine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and David Gacchina, her sister-in-law Connie Knight, brother-in-law Jerry Decker. Elaine will also be missed by her grandchildren, Sara (Greg) Foster, Carmen (Bradford) Johnson, and her great grandchildren, Michael Foster and Kaira and Graham Johnson.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Decker, her son, John Decker, her parents Lucy and William Dewey Knight, her brother, JD Knight, and sister-in-law Ella (Brooks) Decker.
Though no public memorial service will take place, Elaine will be missed by many, north and south.
