Edward Lee Krzywda, age 84, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1970, including active-duty service with Headquarters Company, 141st Signal Battalion, 1st Armored Division, and subsequent service in the United States Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist Fourth Class and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Badge for the M-14 Rifle.
Following his military service, Edward built a successful career with Allstate Insurance in Northbrook, Illinois, where he worked for many years before retiring at the age of fifty. After retirement, he moved to Michigan, where he enjoyed many happy years.
Edward was a devoted Cub Scout Master who enjoyed mentoring young people. His brother, Michael Krzywda, faithfully served alongside him as an assistant Cub Scout leader. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed spending time at shooting clubs, honing his marksmanship skills, and sharing the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. A talented military model builder, Edward spent countless hours creating detailed military models that reflected both his craftsmanship and his appreciation for military history.
Faith was an important part of Edward's life. He faithfully attended church with his family and valued the friendships and fellowship he found there.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Elizabeth Krzywda; his sister, Patricia Malek; his first wife, Nancy Krzywda; his beloved second wife, Patricia Reinhard Krzywda; his stepdaughter, Debra Hilarides; and his grandson, Jason Stefanski.
He is survived by his brother, Michael Krzywda; his sister, Irean Eccles; and his brother, Todd Krzywda.
He is also survived by the family he lovingly embraced through his marriage to Patricia: Anthony Grabowski; Susan and Kim Wm. Sears; David and Sharon Pasciak; Sandra Grabowski; James Hilarides; and Linda Grabowski. Though not a grandfather by birth, Edward proudly became "Grandpa" to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren through his marriage to Patricia, and he loved each of them as his own. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Edward will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, his dedication to his faith, and the kindness and steady presence he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held in July 2026. Details will be announced once arrangements are finalized.
