Douglas Veldhuis

Douglas Jay Veldhuis went to be with the lord unexpectedly on April 17, 2021. Doug is survived by his wife, Kelly Veldhuis; brother, Daniel Veldhuis; sister, Diane Veldhuis; sister, Debbie Veldhuis; son, Ryan Veldhuis, and step daughter Quenta Nyboer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Veldhuis and his father Martin Veldhuis, and we celebrate knowing that together they are dancing with Jesus. Doug worked at Zeeland Public Schools for many years and touched so many lives during his time there, and there was nothing that he would not do to help out not only his co-workers but the students that needed a helping hand or just someone to listen. He then retired to be able to take care of his wife Kelly. Doug enjoyed many things in life, playing guitar in their band “Just Us”, doing taxidermy, spending time with his grandkids, telling his silly jokes, and just spending time with his friends and family. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed and how much love we have for him. Everyone that has met him he has made an impact on and he will be greatly missed. Our family would to thank everyone for their prayers and love that have been sent over this very difficult time. A Memorial Service will be held at Lakeshore Vineyard Church on May 8th, 2021 at 11:00am with a reception following. To be respectful at this time there will also be a live stream on their website at www.lakeshorevineyard.org and Facebook for those who do not feel comfortable saying their goodbyes in person in this pandemic.
