Douglas Belstra, 75, was surrounded by his loved ones as he passed away on March 16th, 2024.
Doug had an aura about him. He was said to have been one that could draw in anybody out of curiosity, and always keep them guessing. "He was nothing short of a spectacle to behold, and if you knew him you know what I mean" as his son Spike said. Going on to also say "... calling him an extraordinary man is truly an understatement."
If you ask his family, they all agree that Doug was a jack of all trades. He was an adrenaline junkie who loved hitting the open road on his Harley and speed racing his hot rods back in the day. He had crafty hands that could turn nothing into something, and something into anything and everything. He had an eye for extreme detail, and saw the beauty in things unlike anyone else. Some of his other hobbies included hunting, fishing, and stopping to take in and appreciate nature in its purest forms.
Above all else, Dougs favorite parts of life were his family.
He is survived by: his wife Laurel Belstra; his daughters Deborah Wilson (Belstra), Georgina Hazelton (Belstra), Susan Sutherland (Belstra), and Kami Mongar (Falbe), along with his only son, Spike Belstra and all of their families. Other living relatives include his sister Deborah Bunnel (Belstra), brother Ryan Belstra, all of his great-grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and the friends he considered his family. A piece of Doug's legacy will continue to live on in the ones he loved, and who loved him.
