Dorothy Lee Verberg

Dorothy Lee Verburg, age 96, passed away on December 11, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1929, and lived a long, full life defined by resilience, independence, and the simple pleasures she cherished.

Dorothy was the mother of four children: Donna Renkema, Debbie Kramer, Paula Barth, and David Mattoon. Her family grew to include 12 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren, a legacy that spans five generations.

She found joy in the everyday—playing cards, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, crafting, and sharing laughter with friends. She also loved traveling, embracing new places and experiences with curiosity and delight. Remarkably, Dorothy maintained yearly lunches with the friends she first met in kindergarten, a testament to her loyalty and enduring connections.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma Bullock; her husband, Robert Verburg; and her granddaughter, Kelly (Minnema) Gardner.

She will be remembered for her strength, her perseverance, and the way she embraced life’s small but meaningful moments.
