Dorothy Louise Hotrum (Hurd, 84) was born to Jared Wesley Hurd and Beatrice Madeline Hurd (Johnson) on August 15th, 1942 in Richmond, Indiana. She passed early in the morning peacefully in her home on September 26, 2026 due to prolonged complications following surgery.

Dorothy spent a short time working as a beautician, before beginning work at Thrifty Acres, later changed to Meijer, where she retired. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and occasionally crocheting when arthritis wasn’t preventing it.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Hotrum and brother, George Hurd. She leaves behind her daughters, Tonya, Terri, and Tammy, multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Patricia and Margaret, and nieces and nephews.

Cremation will take place and a tree will be planted in her memory within the family yard. 

The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at 227 Albany St, Kalamazoo, MI, 49001. Date and time are forthcoming.
