Donny Shayne Partin, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on November 22, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on May 17, 1972, in Wayne, Michigan, Donny's warmth and ebullient spirit were nurtured amid a loving family. Despite his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed away peacefully in Mattawan, Michigan, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.
Donny's early years in Wayne laid a strong foundation for his commitment to service and community, values that carried through his entire life. He proudly graduated from Whitley County High School and soon thereafter, in February of 1993, responded to the call of duty by joining the army. After an honorable discharge, Donny continued to serve his country in a different capacity, dedicating years of hard work to the United States Postal Service until his well-deserved retirement. It was with his family that Donny found his greatest joy and fulfillment. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Shelley Partin, who stood by him as a partner and best friend in their life's journey. His legacy continues through his beloved daughter, Sarah Partin (Ryan), and his step-children, Courtney Fields and Timothy Fields (Allyson). Donny's role as 'Grandpa' to his cherished grandchildren – Amaya, Alivia, Kinsley, Colton, Micah, Elliot, Nathan, and Rayden – was one of his greatest delights, each of them a shining light in his life. Preceding Donny in death were his dear mother Phyllis Rhea, his fathers Denver Partin, Ed Rhea and Waymin Lockhart, along with his in-laws Harry and Nancy Adams, his son-in-law Nathan Peace, his brothers Paul Partin and Will Siler. He leaves behind his siblings Denver Partin (Heather), Carmen Guerra Young (Javier), Lisa Pruett (Jerry), Daniel Partin, Tonya Rhea, Shelley Valeriano (Joe), and John Partin, as well as his brother-in-law Rob Adams (Deb). Joined in loss are his stepmother, Donna Partin, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he held close in his expansive heart.
Donny was the embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity. His infectious laughter and genuine care for others left an indelible imprint on everyone he encountered. Outside of his family and work, Donny engaged wholeheartedly in life's simple pleasures. An avid fisherman, he spent countless tranquil hours by the water, waiting patiently for the next catch. His enthusiasm for collecting memorabilia reflected his passion for preserving memories and cherishing the past. An ardent fan of the gambler’s thrill, Donny enjoyed visiting casinos not merely for the chance of fortune but for the lively atmosphere and the companionship of friends. Moreover, nothing compared to the time spent with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren – these moments were the treasures he valued above all. Donny's absence leaves a void in the fabric of the lives he touched, yet his spirit continues to inspire love and kindness in those left to cherish his memory.
His was a life beautifully lived, a tapestry woven with devotion to his family, service to his country, and an unwaveringly generous spirit. As we bid farewell to Donny Shayne Partin, we celebrate the remarkable man he was, and we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will endure in the hearts and stories of the many lives he enriched with his presence. To know him was to experience the purest form of friendship and love. Donny has set sail for his final journey, leaving us with memories too precious to forget and a legacy of love that will continue to resonate for generations to come.
