Don
Carter
Feb 18, 1944 — Oct 11, 2026
Lansing
In loving memory of DC
Don Carter, age 82, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 10, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 18, 1944, to Clarence and Evelyn Carter.
Don graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1962, where he met the love of his life, Janet Rose. Their high school romance blossomed into a loving marriage that spanned 64 wonderful years.
Don enjoyed a successful 35-year career with M&M Distributing, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and lasting friendships.
Family was at the center of Don's life. He never missed a sporting event for his children, and that same enthusiasm carried on with his ten grandchildren. Whether cheering from the stands or offering words of encouragement, he was always one of their biggest supporters.
Don loved spending his winters in Florida, bowling with friends, and making memories with those he loved most. His warm smile, quick wit, and generous spirit made an impact wherever he went.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Evelyn Carter; his in-laws Knutes and Anna Rose; his sons, Dan and Dennis Carter; and daughter-in-law Barb Carter.
Some people leave behind memories. Some leave behind stories. Then there was Don, affectionately known as "DC," "Bubba," or "The Budman." He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet, his daughter-in-law Ann Carter (Dan); his children, David Carter (Staci), Darren Carter (Jami), Deanna Houghton (Jason); and his grandchildren Danielle (Lisa) Carter, Mackenzie (Ethan)Rennaker, Donovan Carter, Demi Carter (fiancé, Justus), Darbi Carter, Dalton Carter, Caleb Carter, JT (Ryleigh)Houghton, Jayke Houghton, and Jarred Houghton. He also leaves behind six cherished great-grandchildren, with one more expected in 2027.
One of Don's favorite sayings was, "Bubba has time for one more." Please join the family for “one more” at aCelebration of Life on Saturday, October 17, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Tony M’s Restaurant, 3420 Creyts Road, Lansing.
Don's legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
