In Loving Memory of Diane Linn Brooks
January 30, 1955 – May 20, 2026
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Diane “Di” Linn Brooks, who left this world on May 20, 2026, at the age of 71. Di faced her cancer battle with remarkable bravery and was granted peace in her final moments. She was given the precious time to say goodbye to those she loved. Throughout her life, Di touched countless hearts with her radiant smile, positive spirit, and unwavering love for others.
Di was a woman of talent, dedication, and creativity. She owned and operated her own custom upholstery shop in Cedar Springs and later worked at Lear Corporation. She also spent many years helping her father, George McClellan, run the Lake Odessa Antique Mall, where her hard work and vision helped shape it into a lasting and beloved business. Her devotion to family was evident in the loving care she provided to her father during the last 15+ years of his life.
Never one to sit idle, Di filled her days with the things she loved most—playing music on her guitar or mandolin and singing, cooking, gardening, canning, and planning fabulous adventures with her grandkids. One of her great joys was annually attending Traditional Arts Weekend and the Wheatland Music Festival in Remus, MI. These times were shared with family and many dear life-long friends.
She is survived by her partner, Scott Daining, who remained by her side with love and devotion.
Her greatest legacy lives on through her children: Josh (Joni) Brown, Cassie Brown, and Nash (Toni) Taylor and her grandchildren—Emily Brown (Jesse Hager), Nayden Krupp (Hailey Muriset), Mason Taylor and Jameson Heugel. Di cherished the many others who lovingly called her their “second mom.”
She is also survived by her brothers Dave (Sheila) McClellan and Jay (Liz) McClellan, and by her niece Treena (Paul) Fulton.
Di was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pat McClellan.
Diane was a bright light in this world, and she now shines in the next. She is gone too soon. Those who loved her will forever miss her warmth, her laughter, and her beautiful spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on June 23, 2026, from 3-7 p.m. at The Gathering Place in Sand Lake.
