David Underwood

David Kent Underwood II, Age 57, of Kentwood Michigan, formerly Jacksonville, NC, Passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son will be missed by so many loved ones. David, a.k.a. DJ Dave, was preceded in death by his mom Nance Kay Underwood, his brother-in-law Todd Robert Velding, and his niece Samantha Diane Hagarty. He leaves behind his father and Step-mother David Kent and Phyllis Underwood, his wife Iris Grady, his daughters Annalee and Delilah Underwood, his son Sawyer Underwood, the mother of his children Katherine Jones, his sisters Stephanie Underwood, Darcy Sipione (Michael), his brother Ian Underwood (Annalisa), his nephews Austin, Hunter, and Roxy, his nieces Devon (Aaron) Dramann, and Chessa Underwood, more friends and loved ones than we could fit into a book, and his special birthday buddy Leo Robert Dramann.

Our dad was the smartest, funniest, most attention-grabbing guy in every room. His passion for life was unmatched, his boisterous and booming laugh was like the happy sound of thunder, and there was nothing he loved more than a sunny day at the beach, where he spent his whole childhood, and adulthood with his children waiting for the hurricanes to come in. He had and encyclopedic knowledge of music and trivia, a master of many crafts and hobbies, and most importantly he was the best Dad anyone could ask for. Even when times were hard and things got rough, his heart was, and always will be, in the right place. We will miss him beyond what words can describe, but we will look for him in the sunny days and thunderstorms alike, we’ll look for him in the sea otters playing, and we’ll feel him with us every time we hear some good rock n roll. We will always know that the world is never going to be able to fill the shoes he’s left behind, and we will miss him forever. Until we meet again Dad.

We would like to invite all family and friends, who would like to share their love and memories of our beloved David Kent Underwood II, to join us at his sister and brother-in-law’s home to partake in an Irish wake, as that was what Dave wanted. We will be holding the wake on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 1 o’clock to 4 o’clock in the afternoon. We will raise a glass, play some fantastic classic rock,and laugh our a*#•s off as we say goodbye to one of the most generous, loving, and funniest souls who has ever blessed our lives. We love you all, and cannot thank you enough for loving all of us in our deepest sorrow. We look forward to celebrating Dave’s beautiful life with you all on Saturday. We kindly request in lieu of flowers that a contribution be made to the GoFundMe that has been set up to help his children rebuild their lives without their dad.
