Great Husband…Loving Father…Wonderful Son

David Thatcher Dilley, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend” aged 49, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was born on March 14, 1975, in Lansing, Michigan to Steven C. and Pamela A. Dilley. He was a graduate of East Lansing High School. He attended Arizona State University and graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Political Science. He was proud to serve his many clients with their financial service needs as a licensed securities and insurance salesperson with Retirement Wealth Strategies in Grand Rapids.

David is survived by his wife, Erin Cormican Dilley, and two sons, Colin and Cameron. Also surviving are his parents Steven and Pamela, stepmother, Joanne Dilley Bump, and brother, Brett Dilley.

David married the love of his life Erin on May 9, 2009. They spent 15 wonderful years of marital bliss together and created a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and shared passion for the water, snowboarding, and raising their two young boys.

David was pre-deceased by his loving grandparents, Louis and Shirley Romano and John and Evelyn Dilley.

David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, mountain biking, road biking, snowboarding, and lake swimming. As a teenager, he rode his mountain bike from East Lansing to the Mackinac Bridge. One of his greatest pleasures was fishing with his sons in the Grand River. During his youth, David spent summers in Harbor Springs, and enjoyed wakeboarding behind his father’s boat in Little Traverse Bay.

David was a great communicator who loved meeting and talking with many people. His warmth and caring for others will be sorely missed by his many friends. He was famous for his many humorous sayings like: “After Action Report,” “The Seas were Rough that Day, My Friend,” “That was a Whole Pile of not Fun,” and “That’s Classified.”

A celebration of life honoring Dave will be held in the future.

“This is the Part where I Hang Up Now.”
