David Garceau Hume, 57, passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2024, attended by the caring hands of Emmanuel Hospice.
David and his twin brother, Craig, were born on October 8th, 1966.
David graduated from Northview High School in Grand Rapids in 1985 where he was a member of the NVHS Marching Band. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College and Davenport University.
With this education in business and hospitality, he made his home in Florida and Mackinac Island, MI, working mostly at Mission Point Resort and The Grand Hotel, and night manager of the Village Inn. Known as a hard and dependable worker and loyal friend, all on Mackinac Island knew and respected him. David was also a firefighter and paramedic on the Island and kept busy as a painter during the off season.
David had a kind heart, quick wit, and loved recalling old times and joking with his brothers, which kept his spirits up during this illness. He was compassionate with a listening ear and a helping hand.
Two very bad accidents left him weak and vulnerable and unable to fully recover and gain back his strength, his work ethic and his pursuit of personal goals.
A prayerful and faith filled man, he read his Life Recovery Bible daily which got him through tough times.
David leaves behind his daughter Alexandria (Tim) Etts and grandson Ezekiel.
David will be missed by his mother Cathy Bruckman and his stepfather Donald Bruckman, brothers Craig (Amy) Hume, Steven (Pam) Hume, Brad (Deb) Hume and his stepbrothers, Robert (Barb) Bruckman and John Bruckman. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces Amanda and Megan Hume, Carley and Caitlyn Hume, Madelyn Hume, and his step-nephew Sean Bruckman.
David was predeceased by his father Douglas D. Hume.
Memorial Contributions may be made in David's name to: Emmanuel Hospice, 401 Hall St. SW Suite 263, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
