David Doxey

November 4, 1957 — May 2, 2024

David P. Doxey, born 1957 in Grandville, MI, left this earth to greet those who went before him.

His mother, Rosalie Doxey, his father, Raymond Doxey and his step-son, Rob, were there to bring him over to the other side.

Those he left behind include his wife, Marsha of 22 years, his offspring, Katheryn Mills, Nicholas (Jenna) Crozier, and Neil (Anna) Doxey. One granddaughter, Ella Mills, and expecting a grandson.

David’s accomplishments include working 36 years at BP&R Engineering of Holland, MI as an Electrical Field Engineer.

One of David’s favorite places was behind a lighting console, working lights for numerous bands around West Michigan. It is no wonder he was good at his job. His lighting abilities were phenomenal as was his love of Halloween. David was the one on the neighborhood block that would light up his yard with thunder and lightning for Halloween that entertained a multitude of people!

He would even go out in the cold of winter and put up a synchronized light show to celebrate the holiday of Christmas. Stage lighting was his passion. Anything that was worth doing was worth overdoing, much like the love he showed his family.

His childhood memories were at Silver Lake, his second home. His love of the dunes started there. His parents, aunt & uncles, and cousins were there most weekends. He continued this into his adult life and will become a prominent memory of those he left behind. Friends, family, dune buggies, tubing, bonfires, and hanging out with his parents. This made David happy.

If you met David, you did not forget Dave. He was funny. He was kind. He was a conversationist. He was a son, a friend, a husband, a father, a grandfather but mostly, you remembered his towering presence. Not just because he was tall, but because he had a tall personality. One that far exceeded his height of 6’8”.

Cremation was arranged by Grand Rapids Cremation Service.
