Claudette (Edwards) Anderson

Claudette (Edwards) Anderson, age 82, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026.  She was born on February 17, 1944, in Grand Rapids, to the late Claude and Estelle (Sczepanski) Edwards.  Claudette was the youngest of four children and proceeded in death by her siblings: Rozan Butterworth, Carolyn Berry and Jack Edwards, and also a nephew-Todd Berry.  Claudette is survived by three daughters: Kimberly Allen and her children, Claudia Allen (Brendan Schroetenboer) and Cooper Allen (Itzel Meija-Barraza); Jodi (Rodney) Warfield and her children, Jordan Berry (Nate Bell) and Nolan (Summer) Berry; Shelly Richards and her children, Michael Olmstead and Brooklyn Morgan (Aaron Brown); cousins, nieces and a nephew. 

Claudette grew up on the west side of Grand Rapids, she was a true "westsider" and proud of her Polish heritage, she loved to dance a polka and really enjoyed Pulaski Days.  She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family, gardening, antiquing, bird watching, hosting "Sunday Dinners" for her family and holiday parties.

Later in life, Claudette moved through her life vicariously through her loved ones, as she was diagnosed with Rod-Cone dystrophy in her early 60s. This really changed her lifestyle dramatically and eventually she needed full-time help to perform everyday tasks. She was a trooper through it all and stubbornly accepted the help she needed from her loved ones. Her grandson Cooper was her "favorite" caretaker. They would have many a conversation about "the old times". Claudette's grandchildren, were her greatest source of Joy. Especially Jordan! She loved to hear about all of her travel adventures, and there have been many!!

She found joy in listening to books and sharing stories with loved ones.

Though she gradually lost her sight, she never lost her ability to see the goodness in others. Her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will continue to guide all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
