IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheyne Lee
Bell
June 14, 1970 – February 26, 2026
Cheyne Lee Bell, born June 14, 1970, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly and went home with Jesus on February 26, 2026, at his home in Grand Rapids. Cheyne’s life was a quiet testament to love and loyaty —qualities that defined him from the day he was born and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Throughout his life, Cheyne worked various jobs, finding a path that led him in his final years to an apprenticeship in tool and die—a pursuit that demonstrated his dedication and growth even in later chapters of life. Beyond his work, Cheyne’s proudest accomplishments were deeply rooted in sports, especially baseball. An avid ball player, many trophies spoke to his love for the game, a passion nurtured over years in school and within countless friendships formed on the playing fields. His heart truly belonged to the diamond, the place where he shone among friends and competitors alike.
Cheyne was a man who often stayed in the background, quietly observing the world around him. He never sought attention, yet when acknowledged, his face would light up with a warm, genuine smile that revealed the depth of his gentle spirit. While quiet in demeanor, he fiercely protected and fought for those he loved. His kindness extended beyond family, welcoming stray animals into his life with open arms. He could be gruff at times but his loving nature was most evident in his devotion to his dog, Damo, and his cherished pet bird.
Cheyne was a blessing to his family from the very start, a source of comfort and joy whose smiles, hugs, and long conversations will be deeply missed. His presence was a steady comfort, a quiet strength, and an unspoken reassurance to those around him.
He leaves behind a loving circle of family and friends who treasured him deeply: Maternal Aunts Terry Cortez, Geri Stevens, and Keri (Tim) Lloyd; uncles Gary (Dawn) Bell, Larry (Patty) Bell, and Perry Bell; his beloved best friend and brother Kevin (Angelee) Taylor; half-sister Angela Bush; nephews Brandon Taylor and Malique Bush; nieces Kendra Molette, Alyisha Taylor, Brittany Garner, Courtney Harrington, Lynn Jones, and Zuare Jones; along with many cousins and friends who will cherish his memory.
Cheyne’s passing also marks a time to remember those family members who preceded him in death—his mother and stepfather, Mary Louise (Lulu Bell) Hirkaway and Raymond Hirkaway; his father, Larry Browley; his sister, Cindy Bell; and his Maternal grandparents Roger and Patricia Leith, Orville Bell, Paternal grand Parents Percy Browley Sr. and Mae Bell Browley.
In every quiet moment, in every memory shared, Cheyne’s spirit shines on—a gentle, steadfast light that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him. He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed, a soul who left the world better simply by being in it.
A celebration of Life will be held on April 25th and information will be updated as things are finalized.
