Cecil Richard Niswonger, 90, of Stanton, Michigan, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2026, with his wife and son by his side.
He was born on March 26, 1936, in Bushnell Township, Michigan, to Cecil and Helen (Thomas) Niswonger.
He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne (Johnson) Niswonger; his son, Neal (Denise) Niswonger; his daughter, Nora Niswonger; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Kain.
A proud Army veteran, devoted family man, and lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Cecil was most at home on the water, in the woods, or spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life and for bringing humor and joy to everyone he met. He retired from Consumers Energy after 30 years of dedicated service.
The family would like to recognize the special care provided by Corewell Health Hospice, the Commission on Aging, and VA Respite Services. Their attentive and kindhearted staff brought comfort and support to Cecil during the final months of his life.
