Caren Joann Pierce Wonsey

July 21, 1955 — May 15, 2025

Caren JoAnn Pierce Wonsey, known affectionately as Caren to her family and friends, passed away on May 15, 2025, at the age of 69, in Michigan. Born on July 21, 1955, in Carson City, Caren's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and joy that touched everyone who knew her.

Caren was a treasured daughter of Richard Pierce and JoAnn Pierce, who instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion. Throughout her life, she upheld these principles with unwavering commitment. Caren was the cherished wife of Larry Wonsey; beloved sister of Anita Pierce Walsh, Mary Pierce Woodard, Timothy Pierce, and Ken Pierce, whose shared memories will forever be cherished.

A proud graduate of Fulton High School, Caren carried the lessons and friendships from her alma mater throughout her life. Her career as a Supervisor of Manufacturing was marked by her leadership skills and the respect she commanded from her colleagues. Caren’s professional life was characterized by the same warmth and strength she brought to her personal relationships. Caren's legacy is carried on by her loving child, Richard Pierce, and her adored grandchildren, Austin Pierce, Desirae Pierce, and Richard Pierce Jr. She took immense pride in her family, and her role as a mother and grandmother was the one she cherished most. Her guidance and unconditional love shaped the lives of her family members, and her spirit will continue to guide them.

An individual of many passions, Caren found solace and joy in the presence of horses and the stroke of a paintbrush. Her paintings were not just art; they were expressions of her innermost feelings and her connection to the world around her. Caren was also an avid reader, finding comfort and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. But above all, she valued family time, recognizing that the moments spent with loved ones were the most precious.

Caren's life was a reflection of the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Caren indeed succeeded, as she brought laughter, respect, and ease to the lives of those around her.

As we bid farewell to Caren, we remember a life lived with purpose and love. While she may have left this world too soon, her influence and the memories she created will endure. Caren's journey through life was marked by resilience, especially in her valiant battle with bladder cancer, which ultimately took her from us. Her courage in the face of adversity serves as an inspiration to all.

Caren JoAnn Pierce Wonsey will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her stories, her laughter, and her wisdom will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we celebrate her life, we take solace in knowing that Caren's spirit will always be with us, guiding us through our days with the same love and strength she shared so freely.
