Betty Catherine Phillips

April 9, 1965 — May 1, 2025

Betty Catherine Phillips (Porter) left this world on May 1, 2025, at the age of 60, in Zeeland, Michigan in the comfort of her home. Born on April 9, 1965, in the surroundings of Panama City Canal, Betty's journey through life was one marked by an unwavering spirit of generosity and kindness.

Family was the cornerstone of Betty's world. She is survived by her loving husband, William Phillips, and her devoted daughter, Kaitlyn Phillips, who both reflect her boundless love. Betty's memory will also be cherished by her siblings Karen (Thomas) Barefoot, Daniel (Renee) Porter, Julie (Robert) Hall, Donald (Mi) Porter, Kathleen (David) Deal, and Dwayne (Robynn) Porter, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly. She is preceded by her son Ryan Porter, her mother Joan Porter, her father Arthur Porter, her sister Gwen Borst, and brother-in-law Jeffery Borst. The legacy they built together as a family remains a testament to their collective love and unity.

Betty's high school diploma was just the beginning of a life filled with learning and growth. She channeled her talents into restaurant management, where her warmth turned patrons into friends and colleagues into family. Her passion for her work was evident in the way she led her team with both strength and grace.

Betty's interests painted the picture of a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. After settling in Nunica with 7 brothers and sisters, they found ways to stay busy growing up with times spent picking blueberries out on the blueberry farm. In the course of time, she loved soaking up the sun that pronounced her freckles so prominently. Playing cards with family wasn't just a pastime; it was a means to bond, laugh, and create memories that would last a lifetime. Traveling and road trips were her way of embracing adventure, always with a beef stick and a Mountain Dew in hand, a quirky reminder that it's the small things that often bring the greatest comfort.

To describe Betty as loving, selfless, and friendly barely scratches the surface of the impact she made on those around her. She was a friend to all, and her presence was a source of comfort and joy. Her spirit of giving knew no bounds, and she inspired others to live with an open heart.

As we say goodbye to Betty Catherine Phillips (Porter), let us carry her light within us. Betty's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her spirit continues to guide us. Her life was a beautiful example of how to lead with love, serve the community, and smile through the challenges. Let us honor her memory by living as she did—with open hearts, ready to give, and always seeking the joy in every moment she could. Betty's story may have reached its conclusion, but the chapters she wrote in the lives of those she touched will be read and re-read for generations to come.
