Barry Christopher Kozminski, age 53 of Grand Rapids, died unexpectedly on January 14, 2026. He was greeted in heaven by his father, Robert Kozminski, his step-father, Richard Marston, his maternal grandmother, Elvira Obney and paternal grandparents, Ted and Lucille Kozminski and many other welcoming family members.
Surviving are his daughters Eleia and Naomi Kozminski who he loved dearly. His mother, Beatrice Marston, his step-mother, Patti (Fred) McConkey; Siblings: Brian (Lesley) Kozminski, sisters Robin Marston Cooper, Lorri Marston (Jeff Upton) and Stacey (Tom) Buschert; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barry grew up in Northwest Grand Rapids. During his high school years he enjoyed playing tennis, JV basketball, school plays and the Kenowa Hills Marching Band. He forged a career as an Irrigation Specialist with Evergreen Underground Sprinkling in Walker, Mi. He became known for his skills and care for the people he served.
Many of Barry’s memories were times fishing and camping trips with family at Schnable Lake near Allegan. He also enjoyed vacations at the cabin on Trout Lake in Ontario, Canada off the Algoma Railroad. This involved more fishing and hiking. Barry also developed cooking skills and enjoyed experimenting with recipes.
Barry suffered from debilitating diseases and had significant pain. He displayed great courage in finding ways to be independent and managing life with the Grand Rapids bus system and a wheel chair. Now he is walking and pain free and watching over family and friends. Hopefully he is fishing with his Dad and Step-Dad Catching some amazing brook trout or bass from heavenly streams and lakes.
The family will have a Celebration of Barry’s Life in the spring, the date to be announced later.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to Mel Trotter in Grand Rapids, Mi. or to charities of your choice.
Rest in Peace, Dear Barry
