Annemarie Maxi Hortman, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, in Dorr, Michigan, at the age of 86. Born on April 14, 1939, in Rangsdorf, East Germany, Annemarie's early years were shaped by the challenges of growing up in a war-torn country. Her resilience and hope for a brighter future led her to immigrate to the United States, where she sought to provide a better life for her daughter.
In her journey, Annemarie met William Hortman, the love of her life, and together they formed a close-knit family that included two sons. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and creativity, where she loved to entertain with music and share stories that captivated everyone around her. Annemarie's spirit and devotion to her family have left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Annemarie is survived by her daughter, Manuela Baker; her son, Wilhelm Hortman; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. They will forever carry her memory and the values she instilled in them throughout her life.
She joins her husband, William Hortman; her son, David Hortman; her parents, Anna and Felix Kadubek; as well as her brother-in-law, Billy Campbell; sister-in-law, Patricia Campbell; sister-in-law Laura Isbill; brother-in-law Joe Isbill; niece Patty Brown in eternal rest. Annemarie Maxi Hortman will forever be remembered for her loving heart, her stories that bridged generations, and her commitment to her family. Her legacy lives on in those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all.
