Rosa Martinez

Rosa Martinez, born to Santos Martinez and Gilberto E. Martinez, age 67, of Comstock Park, Michigan passed away on Thursday September 16, 2021. She was born April 30, 1954 in Sheridan, Michigan. She retired from Spectrum Health Hospital, where she made many friends and touched the hearts of many colleagues. She loved to sew, dance, listen to music, and spend time with her family. She was an incredibly creative woman, whose talent ranged from blankets to clothes and many more crafts. One of her accomplishments, that she took so much pride in, was her sobriety. This past March sixteenth marked her 27th year sober. A true feat that has made so many people proud of her. Her story is inspiring and truly motivational for others that she has met. Rosa was also a faithful Christian. Her faith and love for her religion was awe-inspiring. She put all of her trust in God and had one of the purest relationships with Him. Even through her fight against cancer, she put herself into God’s hands and accepted any outcome, taking comfort in knowing it was part of His plan. Like any mother, she was the rock of her family. Her heart was full of love for all of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. A true representation of what maternal love looked like. She would put her family first, above all else. Her humor was unmatched, making it feel as though, no matter the circumstances she could always brighten someone’s day. Rosa was free spirited, fearless, strong, perseverant, charming, kind, caring, loving, beautiful, and so much more. She had the most caring soul, and the purest heart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Santos Martinez; older brother, Gilbert Martinez; and younger brother, Carlos Martinez. Rosa will be dearly remembered and loved by her father, Gilberto Martinez; siblings, Francisca Garcia, Gloria Martinez, Margaret Hernandez, Dolores Reed, Guadalupe Schmidtchen, Maria Ellen Martinez, Pauline Martinez, Mary Jane Lopez, Anita Hernandez, and Joey Martinez; children; Antonio Martinez, Santa Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Javier Martinez, Anita (Joshua) Huss, Benito Martinez, and Consuelo (Jordan) Esch; Grandchildren; Antonio Jr, Miguel, Elijah and Isaac, Lilliana and Julianna, Ariana, Alyssa and Brian, Alexander, Rosa, Esperanza and Jazalyne, Adan and Ava and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 1PM to 3PM at Grand Rapids Cremation Services, 3305 Three Mile RD. NE, Suite B in Grand Rapids, MI. 49525. Masks are required.
