Melody Morbeck

Melody Lynn Morbeck, also known as Ms. Mel to her daycare families and children, peacefully passed away on December 22, 2023, at the age of 68 in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her family by her side. Melody was born on May 31, 1955, in Lakeview, Michigan. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and more.


Melody was everyone's favorite person. She was a peacemaker, kind, giving, and full of love. Melody always put others' needs before her own and had a zest for life. She had a contagious smile and a warm embrace, always ready to greet you with open arms. Laughter and a sense of humor were important to her, brightening the lives of those around her.


Melody had a passion for working with children. She began her career as a Title 1 Reading Aid through Rockford Public Schools and later went on to start her own daycare, which she owned for 24 years. Her dedication to nurturing and educating young minds left a lasting impact on the community.


Melody will be deeply missed by her husband, Donald Morbeck, her daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Matthew Henning, her son, Derik Ziegler, her sister, Kimberly Olsen Vitacco, her granddaughter, Ashlee Graham, and her 11 nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and 18 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erik and June Olsen, and her brothers, Jerry Hall and Michael Hall.


Melody found solace in her faith and was a member of City Church Rockford. She cherished her time spent worshipping there.


Outside of her work and family, Melody enjoyed various hobbies. She had a passion for shopping, reading her Bible, participating in Bible study groups, dancing, decorating, and praying. These activities brought her joy and fulfillment.


A celebration of Melody's life will be held on January 5, 2024, at City Church Rockford, located at 3233 10 Mile Rd NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Cedar Springs American Legion, located at 91 S 1st St, Cedar Springs, MI 49319, at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend and share in the memories of Melody's remarkable life.

Melody Lynn Morbeck's legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She has left an indelible mark on the lives she touched, and her memory will be held dear in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in eternal peace.
