On May 14, 2022, after an arduous fight with cancer, Marshall Werling, 30 years old, passed peacefully, surrounded by family. Anyone that knew Marshall, knew that his sense of humor was unsurpassed, he was eternally optimistic, and liked by everyone that he met. Born in Muskegon, MI, he was essentially “born on the beach” and loved everything about the water. His love for music started early, in 6th grade when he started playing the trumpet, growing into a career as East Kentwood High School Band Director, and meeting the love of his life and later wife in the same field, Anna Werling. Anywhere there was a BBQ to be had, Marshall was there, priming his famous recipe for brisket. Camping and hiking were also loves of his, along with daily weightlifting sessions, while Anna cycled next to him.
Other than his wife, Marshall is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Werling; sister, Rebecka; and two rambunctious, albeit well-behaved Australian Shepherds, Oakley and Otto Werling. Also very close were his in-laws, Richard Dimanin and Lisa Giesecke, Tsana Dimanin and David Reed, Patrick Dimanin and Louise Logre, and Jillian and Mark Coury.
In lieu of flowers, please upload your pictures and memories of Marshall on GRcremation.com. so we can all remember him together. Please join us to celebrate his life and follow Marshall’s lead for a backyard party on Saturday, May 21, 2022, 12pm-4pm at 4720 Summer Creek Lane SE, Kentwood, MI 49508.
