Calvin LeRoy Tardiff Sr., known affectionately by friends and family as Cal, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Holland, Michigan, on March 15, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on March 8, 1933, Cal lived a full life marked by devotion to his family, a passion for his community, and a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched all who knew him.
Cal was a lifelong resident of Holland, a place he cherished deeply and where he built his life's memories. He was a beacon of stability and strength within his family, leaving behind a rich tapestry of shared moments and enduring love. Though he now joins his beloved wife, Marcia, and his daughter, Gail-Marie Tardiff, who preceded him in death, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire his family.
Cal's memory will be cherished by his children, Peggy Tardiff and Randy Dreisenga of Holland, Penny and Bob Kloosterman of Zeeland, Calvin Tardiff Jr. of Gallatin, TN, Melissa Bussies of Holland, Rick VanderVeer of Northville, and Rhonda and Rick Stygstra of Holland. Each of them carry forward his legacy of compassion and integrity. His grandchildren, Jennifer Shurland, Danielle Bronson, Matt Kloosterman, Christin Snyder, Ben Tardiff, Jordan, Kyan, Noah, and Alia Bussies, and Joseph and David Stygstra, as well as his ten great-grandchildren, will forever hold dear their memories of Cal's guidance, his laughter, and the countless stories he shared.
Cal was the cherished brother of Rosie Albers and Ray Tardiff, both of Holland. Together with several nephews, nieces, and cousins, they formed a close-knit family that Cal was proud to be a part of. His role as a brother and uncle was one he embraced with joy and pride, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand.
Throughout his life, Cal was a pillar of his community, known for his generous spirit and his willingness to lend a hand. He was a man of action and commitment, devoting his time and energy to various local causes and always striving to make Holland a better place for everyone. His absence will be felt by many, yet his influence will continue to be seen in the community he loved so well.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where friends, family, and community members will gather to honor Cal's memory. It will be a time to share stories, laughter, and tears, reflecting on the profound impact Cal had on the lives of so many.
